Kirby A. Dyess, Beaverton, was appointed to the Oregon State Board of Higher Education in January 2004.

Ms. Dyess is a private investor and, until recently, Vice President and Director of Operations for Intel Capital, Intel's strategic investment program. She recently retired from 23 years of service at Intel. Her career has been devoted to helping build large companies and assisting early stage companies either as an employee or through investment.

As Corporate Vice President and Director of Operations for Intel Capital from 1979 through 2002, she managed a portfolio of over 400 national and international companies. Previously, she served as Business Unity Manager and Marketing Manager for Intel's Personal Computer Enhancement Division, Director of Marketing for ICN Medical Laboratories, and Industry Advisor for the EPA. She is a member of the Menasha Corporation Board of Directors, Merix Corporation Board, the H2F Media Board, the Board of Trustees for Linfield College, and she chairs the Business Advisory Board for the University of Oregon Lundquist College of Business.

Ms. Dyess earned a BS in Physics from the University of Idaho, and pursued post-graduate work in biochemistry and business at Portland State University and Stanford University.

Ms. Dyess served as vice president of the Board from 2004 to 2007 and as Board president from 2007-08. She also served as chair of the Board Committee on Strategic Initiatives and the Board Working Group on Academic Excellence and Economic Development. Ms. Dyess' term expires in 2008.
