Mission

Charge to the Committee:

The Oversight Committee on Sexual Assault of the State Board of Higher Education is charged to analyze the current policies of OUS institutions toward sexual assault and develop a system wide approach to policy and practices utilizing the best practices of Oregon and national institutions of higher education.

Mission:

The outcome of this committee’s work will be the development of a system wide approach to the prevention, treatment, response, and reporting of sexual assault. The committee will highlight the best comprehensive approaches and practices utilized throughout the state and country to preventing and responding to sexual assault. The outcome will emphasize collaborative activity amongst campus based organizations and law enforcement that promotes the most effective and efficient response to sexual assault. Additional outcomes will include a system wide prevention initiative, specifically related to alcohol policy.

Deliverables:

  1. A summary of the current policies and procedures related to prevention of sexual assault within Oregon University System campuses.
  2. An analysis of the present response, treatment, and reporting protocol on OUS campuses.
  3. To identify and promote best practices in support of effective sexual assault intervention, response, and prevention efforts.
  4. A uniform sexual assault response, treatment, and reporting policy for all OUS campuses.
  5. An analysis of where the gaps exist between campuses and law enforcement in terms of sexual assault response.
  6. To provide leadership in Oregon for efforts of improving the prevention of and response to sexual assault.
